Academic Position & Leadership
I’m an Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), with academic training in Health Sciences and Digital Health. I’m the Co-Director of the Master’s in Medical Informatics at FMUP and a member of RISE@Health – Health Research Network, within the thematic line on Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence, Data and Decision Sciences in Health.
I teach Medical Informatics, Digital Health and Respiratory Physiology across undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programmes.
My research focuses on the evaluation and validation of diagnostic and monitoring technologies in respiratory diseases, and on the application of artificial intelligence and clinical data analytics to medical decision-making. I also work on digital innovation and the development of mobile applications for clinical practice and chronic disease management.
My academic background spans Health Sciences and Digital Health, with specialized expertise in respiratory physiology, medical informatics, and health technology assessment.
